To all descendants of Beard/Beaird/Bairds who have any connection to early Adair/Green Cos, KY:A descendant from Sevier Beard b KY 1802 and a descendant of William Beard b TN1824 have matched through the FamilyTreeDNA study that is going on.That means two lines who did not know of each other now know that we have a common ancestor a generation or two further back than Sevier, b 1802. Sevier's line goes to TX and Ark, William's line went to MS from TN.A major line of this family went to Ill and Indiana, also around St Francois, Mo.Another branch went to Bedford Co TN and then to Henderson/Madison area. Some of this branch moved down into Panola Co MS in the late 1830s.I am sure I have left out something and I am sure that there are other places they have landed. We would love to have more of you participate in the dna study. We would like to have a group of lines that match through both dna AND locations, enabling a serious study and "sorting out" of these lines. In 1804 Hugh Beard was listed as one of the commissioners for the brand new Adair Co and its county seat Columbia. Early Beard settlers included John, John Jr, James, Hugh, Samuel, and possibly a William. There were many brothers and they all seem to have had many sons!(and of course, named them all the same family names!) I have the beginnings of a study of them. Please help us by checking out the dna study and/or contributing to the information we are constantly accumulating. Post replies here, let's form a loose study group and try to sort them all out.
