"An announcement of more than usual interest is made today by Mr. & Mrs. Albert S. Anderson of the marriage of their daughter Mary Catherine, to Lieut. William Gordon Beard, son of Maj. and Mrs. Stephen R. Beard of Fort Monroe, VA.The marriage was solemnized today at high noon in the home of the bride's parents in the presence of only members of the immediate families.Lieut. and Mrs. Beard left after the ceremony for Monterrey, Mex., where they will spend a week.Upon their return they will depart immediately for San Francisco, CA., from where they will sail on March 30 for Honolulu, Lieut. Beard's station.
The bride, who is a lovely blonde, has made quite a name for herself in New York City and other Eastern points, in art circles.
Lieut. Beard was graduated in 1932 from the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY, and received his "wings" from the Advanced Flying School at Kelly Field in the class graduated yesterday morning."
These were my grandparents. They had one child, Mary Susan, who was born in Honolulu.Lieut. Beard died in a tragic mid-air collision on January 24, 1935!!He is buried at The Presidio in San Francisco. He had one brother named John.I believe William (Bill) G. Beard was born in Atlanta GA.
If anyone can help me find out more about my Beard relatives, I would be so grateful. Thanks, Valerie
