Jane Beaty who m. Thomas Jefferson Walker, Mecklenburg Co, NC
Searching for the parents and siblings of Jane Beaty who married Thomas Jefferson Walker.Jane and Thomas are buried at Steele Creek Presbyterian, Mecklenburg Co, NC.
At least one tree I've found on the net indicates Jane's middle name was Waddell, leading some researchers to believe she was the daughter of Francis Beaty and Jane Waddell, however, this appears to be impossible:
Jane was b. 15 Dec 1819 and d. 3 Jan 1900. Census records confirm she was b. abt 1819; however, Francis Beattywho m. Jane Waddell died in Aug 1815...4 years before Jane was born.Jane may have been named for Jane Waddell, but she cannot be the daughter of Jane Waddell and Francis Beaty; however, she may have been their niece.
Looking at the data, circumstantial evidence seems to indicate that Jane may be the daughter William Beaty and Martha Dunn. Can anyone confirm or refute this? Here's the evidence that I've uncovered to support this speculation:
Dr. Henry Jackson Walker (24 Jun 1836-15 Nov 1928) was the son of Jane Beaty and Thomas Jefferson Walker.
W. D. Clanton, b. abt 1834, was H. J. [Henry Jackson] Walker's 23 Jun 1864 Mecklenburg bondsman for Henry's marriage to Catherine Elizabeth Berryhill.William D. Clanton was the son of Drury Clanton and [Miriam] Eleanor Beaty. Francis M. Beaty was bondsman for the 08 May 1828 Mecklenburg marriage bond for Drury Clanton and Eleanor Beaty.Eleanor and Francis were siblings, children of John Beaty and Mary Wilson
It seems highly probable that Henry and William were first cousins, once removed.
Alexander L. Porter was bondsman for the 27 Nov 1834 Marriage Bond of Thomas J. Walker and Jane Beaty.
T. J. Walker was bondsman for the 15 Jan 1864 Mecklenburg Co, NC marriage bond of A. W. [Archibald W. ] Beaty and Sarah Thomas.Archibald W. Beaty son of James M. Beaty and Mary Ellen Sandifer.[I assume this James M. Beaty was the James Beaty who was son of William Beaty and Martha Dunn.]
On the 1820 Census of Mecklenburg, William Beaty who m. Martha Dunn is found on the same page as an Alexander Porter [relationship, if any, to Alexander L. Porter, who was Bondsman for Thomas J. Walker and Jane Beaty, is unknown].There is a female, b. 1811-1820, living in the HH of William and Martha who COULD be Jane, b. Dec 1819;however, William mentions only his sister-in-law, Margaret Dunn, and his son James [James M. Beaty?], who is living in Arkansas, in his 1866 LWT.His other children may have already received their inheritance and therefore not mentioned?
If you have additional information on Jane, would love to hear from you!
Below are supporting records.
