Hi Brian
I am looking into the SMALLWOOD's of Foleshill. My great grandmother Elizabeth SMALLWOOD was marked as being adopted, along with her sister Anne, in the 1891 census. The adoptive parents were Joseph & Mary BEAUFOY, who were living at 136 Bloomsbury St. Joseph was marked as 35 yrs and his occupation was a Fish Dealer (employer). Mary was a SMALLWOOD prior to marrying Joseph; Elizabeth & Anne's Aunt.
I found Joseph on the 1881 census age 24yrs, occupation Trimming Weaver. He was living with his parents; George BEAUFOY and his wife Catherine. Their address was Longford, Foleshill. George married Catherine (BALL) on the 30th August 1847 at St Lawrence, Foleshill. George BEAUFOY was christened on the 5th June 1825, again at St Lawrence, and his parents were John BEAUFOY and Sarah (MOUTON) who were married 10th June 1822 at St Lawrence, Foleshill.
Hope you find this useful
