If you will look on page 151 of the 1810 Pendleton County, SC census, you will see the names Sampson Norton, Wm Beaver, Wm Norton, Wallace Jones and Gideon Norton. They are in a cluster. This Wm Beaver is really William Bevert who married to Catherine Norton. The female in the household of Wallace Jones is probably Susan Beavert, William's sister.William Bevert was a Sgt. in the the War of 1812, in the company of Capt. Jeptha Norton, who was a brother to Catherine, Sampson, Gideon and Barak.Barak Norton is also on this page.Jeptha Norton is listed in this same census a page or two prior.William Norton was the father of Catherine, Sampson, Gideon, Barak and Jeptha. This can be verified with 1812 service records of William Bevert and an article in "The South Carolina Magazine of Ancestral Research", Vol. XVI, Summer 1988, Number 3, page 126.This article refers to a land settlement at William Norton's death, ca. 1829.
