This is what I have on my Grand Father Horace Grady Beckham Sr.
Sarrow and Relief
Do not think of me as dead
I do not sleep on an eternal bed
I am the blazing morning light
I am the shining, moonlit night
I lift your spirits when you are sad
I am the reminder of good times we've had
I do not haunt October nights
I would not start a maddening plight
I see you wake, I bid you good night
Even when your pain is everso slight
I will always be with you, forever and more
My presence is heartfelt, right down to the core
Do not think of my love as gone
I will always be with you, forever and beyond

Memories of Grandpa
Grandpa's garden in the springtime
His stories from the past
Jams and jellys tasted
Peaches canned in mass
A coffee cup he could not pass
As yardsales he did go.
He told of planting hammers
as he walked back to and fro.
But its memories he planted
Like his gardens they will grow.

Horace Grady Beckham Sr.
May 28, 1911
Died in his home
in Escalon, California
January 8th, 2000
They came over the mountains out through the dust
California here we come, California or bust
To the sunshine and land of plenty
Their family growing along the way
To a place they would call home
This is where we will stay
They picked cotton from the fields
Knocked nuts from the trees
However long their toils
They had seven mouths to feed
They sometimes ate only beans
Sometimes with bread
Thanking the lord for all that they had
In their hearts it was so much more
This is our home it's what we asked for
He planted hera forest on the sandy ground
She grew flowers the prettest around
All their children grewn up
And had children of thire own
Each giving their own children
A place they called home
Seasons passed hot summers, cold winters
They weathered them all
One day the good lord came to pay her a call
Twenty years have since passed
Still he carries on with the love of his family
In this place they called home
With nearly nineth years of his life gone by
His heart still young, his mind still spry
His body now aches and he no longer wants to try
When I went to see him to tell him goodbye
I was overwhelmed with saddness and started to cry
He said "Dont worry grandaughter,
I love you and I've had a good long life
I look forward to going home and be with the wife"
I will miss them both now
And I know I'm not alone
I know one day they'll be waiting for me
in a place they call home
