Leonne "Babe" Beckman, the daughter of, Joe and Martha Leebens Oolman was born on January 6, 1922 on a farm near Lismore, MN. Babe moved with her family to a farm near Fulda when she was a young girl. Babe attended school in Fulda and graduated from Fulda High School in 1939. On February 24, 1946 she and Emory Beckman were married at the Immanuel American Lutheran Church in rural Fulda, MN. After their marriage they lived and farmed southwest of Fulda for 17 years. They later moved to Fulda to live. Due to failing health Babe moved to Our Houses Hospice Home in Slayton, MN and passed away there on October 3, 2006 at the age of 84. She was a member of the Immanuel American Lutheran Church in rural Fulda. Babe enjoyed gardening, reading and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Emory Beckman of Fulda, MN, one daughter, Tammy Buesing and her husband, Tom of Slayton, MN, five grandchildren, Christina, Katie, Sam, Suzie, and Grace Buesing and one brother, Everett Oolman and his wife, Arlene of Fulda, MN. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Russell Oolman, and two sisters, Johanna Lee and Mayphine Hinesly.
Funeral services were held at Immanuel American Lutheran Church rural Fulda, MN, on Thursday, October 5, 2006 at 2:00 PM with the Rev. Kristy Mitchell officiating. The organist was Ron Janssen. The soloist was Marvena Agnew. The pallbearers were Charlie Agnew, Phil Garberich, Paul Engelkes, Nathanel Engelkes, Preston Engelkes, and Dalton Engelkes. Interment at Immanuel American Cemetery, rural Fulda, MN.
