MRS. HILDA G. (GERDES) BECKMAN APRIL 25, 1974
Mrs. Hilda G. Beckman, 83, formerly of 960 E. River St., Kankakee, died at 9:30 p.m. Friday, Apr. 19, at St. Mary's hospital, in Kankakee, following a long illness. A lifelong resident of the Kanakakee area, she was a retired employee of the Casper Nursing Home. She was also a member of the Frances Willard Lodge 277 of the Railroad Trainmen. She was born July 23, 1889, in Chatsworth, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oren Gerdes. She was married in 1910 in Chatsworth to Robert O. Beckman who died in 1947. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Phyllis Jacobsen of Kankakee; one granddaughter and two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Rose Walters of Chatsworth. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran church where she was a member. Rev. Paul Mueller officiated and burial was in Mound Grove cemetery. A memorial has been established for mental health research.
