It is good to hear from you. This entry has always intrigued me.I have tried to trace Prince Harris with no luck.I think Ezekiel Beckwith had sons Francis and Walter and to see all of these names linked together is interesting.
I have a print out from Mahlon about Ezekiel Beckwith. It lists the following as likely children of Ezekiel:
Francis Dyer Walter Reed Deborah Levi
Dyer is an enigma.I am not sure why other researchers have linked him ot Ezekiel.I have not found any solid evidence linking him to this family. The only shred I have found is most likely coincidence.Reed Beckwith had son Reed Jr.Reed Jr. moved from Orwell Vt to Whitehall NY where Dyer lived. One additional note on Dyer is that his son David is listed as a blacksmith on the 1850 census.
Ezekiel is with Francis in Oneida County NY circa 1818 where he applied for a Rev. War Pension. He was 81 years old at the time.Francis was a voucher on the application.Francis of Oneida had a son Reed Beckwith most likely after brother Reed of VT.
The print out I mentioned above references land sales between Ezekiel, Walter, Reed and Levi in Orwell, Rutland Co. VT.
Reed Beckwith is supposed to have married Sarah Fuller Ackley 21 Jan 1795 in East Haddam.I have found no proof of this yet.Deborah Beckwith listed as daughter of Ezekiel married Stephen Ackley Jr. which I did find evidence that such a marriage happened. This Stephen is the brother of Sarah Fuller Ackley.
Of interest is that Stephen Ackley is on the same page as Chauncy Beckwith etal in East Haddam 1810.Most likely coincidence or possibley the linkage of Deborah to Ezekiel is an error.
Another mystery is Biram Beckwith.Reed and Ezekiel are in Orwell, Rutland Co. Vt page 176 1810 census. The indexes list Ezekiel, Reed and Biram Beckworth.Looking at the actual images, it looks more like Beckwith. On page 178 is Biram Beckwith. The handwritting is confusing and the first name may be some other name. The name is not close to any of the known kids.
I must apoligize to you Virgil. You sent me an email some years back relating to research you did on deeds. My great filing system is so good I cannot find it.I hope I have not mangled this too much from my memory.I think you had found some deeds where Ezekiel had land transactions with Reed property. If you still have your notes I would appreciate knowing what you found.
I think Ezekiel was married to a Reed first.I found research done by a Grant Family researcher. They have Esther Grant born about 1761 in Windsor Ct. married first to William Culver and second Ezekiel Beckwith in Orwell VT. She is quite a bit younger than Ezekiel born circa 1737.Maybe she married Ezekiel son of Ezekiel (if in fact Ezekiel had a son Ezekiel).I have not been able to find any clues supporting any of this other than the work of other researchers.Mahlon's print out has Ezekiel married to an Esther but I am not sure what evidence this is based on.Maybe deeds in Orwell.
