Are you still interested in this?Matters are perhaps more complicated than you think.Dyer Beckwith, 1775-1852 along with Anna Bartholomew Beckwith and Lieut. David O. Beckwith are buried in the Beckwith Cemetery, Whitehall, Washington County, New York. This gives rise to the question how you and others have come across a burial date of 1 March 1859.
That is only one part of the problem. A 1783 advertisement reads "BECKWITH, DYER, Walter Beckwith and Prince Higgins ran away from Jared Wilson Spencer, Francis Beckwith, and Oliver Warner of East Haddam. Dyer is age 19, has long, black hair and knows black-smiths trade. Walter is 17 and knows carpenter trade and Prince is 17 and knows blacksmith trade."That places his birth in 1763-4.
It seems that two Dyer Beckwiths have been confused with one another, but the 1850 census knows only of one: Dyer, 76, in Whitehall.
This makes it important to know where the burial date of 1 March 1859 came from.
