I am not surprised that the sources I quoted are wrong about Benjamin Beacraft. Obviously the reports that came out of Schoharie are very biased. BUT, I have absoulutely no faith in anything I find on Family Search of LDS! It may be a good source for ideas of where to look, but many of the geneaolgies are based on very poor research.
Do NOT be concerned or mislead about different spellings of the last name. That is absolutely of no importance. The early Palinete settlers were illiterate. They had no idea of how to spell their own name. They had no idea of how the keepers of various records spelled their name, nor any opportunity to check, and no reason to care. There was no standard or accepted spelling.
Good luck in your search. They are my ancestors also, but I can help you no more at this time.
