My gg grandparents were James Bedore/Bedard (b. c.1851 in Quebec)and his wife was Malvina/Marvina Renaud (variant spellings). She was born c. 1854 in Quebec. They may have come from Shefford.Married about 1871.
Their first 3 children were born in Canada:David Bartholomew, Cordelia, and Clyde (or Clede). The family immigrated to US around 1879 and lived in Omaha, NE area for about 6 years. They then settled in Rooks County, Kansas.Their other children were Florence, Henry, Jennie (born in Nebraska) and Octave, Leo, Florida, Joe and Nelda (born in Zurich, Rooks County, Kansas).
I have been searching this forum as well as various Bedard sites, but have been unable to link James back to his ancestors in Canada. He changed his name from Bedard to Bedore - not sure if he "americanized" his first name as well.
To further confuse things, a Jean Baptise Bedard and Jean Baptise Bedard Jr. from the Marieville area, lived in the Kankakee area for a few years, and then moved to the same area of Kansas.
I would greatly appreciate any help or information someone might be willing to share.Thank you in advance.
