Re: Beeler Bible and Ben Beeler!!
All records of the era are precious and I would love to have it. My comments were relative to the strength of the record. It is not very strong. All Bibles are to be treated with respect.
Family? Most likely. Who is Jacob Beeler in the Bristol Cemetery that is 92 years old when he dies? Not real sure for the reasons Maxine said in earlier posts. Ms. Park had come to some conclusion but she, Maxine, had not confirmed it. I have not heard her say anything since in the forums. I believe Ms. Park passed away. Am I incorrect? I don't know.
I do find it strange that Jacob Beeler would be using his christening as a birthday. We don't do that and christenings are quite an event. Is dave changing the birthday on that note in the Bible? He never answered.
Another interesting thing about that Jacob Beeler is he has a wife that dies supposedly in 1836. However, where is she on the 1830 U.S. Census?
Our Il researcher said Jacob is on line 15 of page 71 for Sullivan County living with James Beeler his son. There is no older female shown??
However, there is one shown at the bottom of the same page. The Jacob Beeler has a female that is 60-70 but that is not James family that has little children. That is Benjamin A. Beeler that marries in 1839 to Lucy Acree. They do show on the 1840.
Evelyn, what do you make of those two Jacob Beelers on that U.S. Census page?
Sure looks like there is more than one doesn't it? Of course there is and Old Joseph is living with his son William on another sheet. They are all there just as they are on the Tax List for 1812 for Sullivan County.
I believe the Carmack cemetery listing for the Beeler Cemetery has Catherine d. 1836 but is probably 1826 because I can't find her. The Jacob she should be with is the one on Line 15 of the 1830 and she is not there. Please let me know what you think. I do not know.
