Re: Nicholas Bieri's gravesite?
Ray, I went to this graveyard after I read this post several years ago.I don't believe it is where Nicholas Bieri is buried. It is 20 or more miles away from his property on Codorus Creek, and as he was still an active man when he died, I believe he would have been still farming his land, rather than living at a son's or daughter's house.
They told me at the York Hist. Soc. that there are two Chestnut Grove cemeteries near York, PA and perhaps he is buried in the other one.
I did find his land records in the York Co Courthouse in York, PA.They have maps, and it seemed to me that his land was about a mile north of the center of York on Codorus Creek.
Rochelle Phillips - If you are reading this list - how did you hear that he was buried in Chestnut Grove Cemetery? And did you ever find his Mennonite Church records? Is there a record of a land purchase out West of York near Chestnut Grove Cemetery?
If anyone has more information about his or his wife's burial spots, please respond.
Thanks to all,Landy
