Begey Family in Muscatine, Iowa
Here's what I have on my Begey Ancestors:
My Great-Grandmother was Clementine Frances Begey (married Theodore Joseph Grafe) she was born on 8 Feb 1890 in Muscatine, Muscatine Co., Iowa and died on 26 Jan 1988 in San Leandro, Alameda, California. Her siblings are Arthur Clement Begey b.10 Aug 1888 (a veteran of World War I, serving with the Army engineers), Mida Genevieve Begey b. 30 Jan 1893, Mildred Marie Begey b. 4 Sep 1895, and Bernard Lafayette Begey b. 2 Mar 1899 (died same day).
Their parents are Augustin Camille Begey (b. 24 Feb 1861 in Champagney, France) and Caroline Elizabeth Wilmering (b. 3 Dec 1859 in Muscatine, Iowa).Caroline was the daughter of George Harmon Wilmering and Teresa Mary Daterman (both born in Hanover, Germany).
Augustin had a brother named Paul C. Begey (b. 28 Sep 1864 in St. Germaine, France).Their father, was Francois Elie Begey (b. 1827 in France and died 1864 in Belfort, France).Their mother was Seraphine Juliennee Frelin (or possibly Ferry) (b. 25 Apr 1836 in St. Germain, France and died 2 Feb 1919 in Muscatine, Iowa).I believe she brought her sons to the U.S. after the death of their father. She had a 2nd marriage to August Mozer (m. 22 May 1869 in Muscatine Co., Iowa). They had 2 children: Albert E. Mozer (b. May 1870 in Iowa) and Martha Mozer (b. 1873 in Iowa).
I'd love to hear from anyone associated with this family.
