I am actually researching my Behrmann line, in the process, I have come across "Peter Wolf" who married into the family.
As you will read below he was a dentist in Brooklyn, NY. In the following census information Peter married Christine M. Behrmann.
I am looking for anyone with information regarding Peter - and his family line, both Parents [born in Germany]and any siblings he may have had. [stateside or abroad]
Even more importantly with the following information I am looking to hook up with my extended Behrmann family. If the following sounds familiar to you, please write.
Parents of Henry F. Behrmann are:
John Behrmann [Germany] wife Anna [Germany] see info next.
[Grt grt Grandpop]
John Behrmann (DOB Dec 29 1854 and DOD May 9 1903 age at death, 49 yrs.) Born: Germany [according to family bible]
[Grt, grt Grandmother]
Anna Behrmann (DOB Oct 2 1846 and DOD Jan 20 1894 age at death 48 yrs.). Born: Germany [according to family bible]
There is a reference made in a family bible to a Lutheran Cemetary in Brooklyn, however, there are no names attached to the reference. It is important to note that the bible pages are from the second wife, Edna M. [Jacobus] Behrmann of Henry F. Behrmann not his 1st wife, our grt. grandmother, Carrie Marceline Baldwin.
*Note:At this time there are 3 known children of John and Anna Behrmann. Henry F. Behrmann, DOB circa Nov 1875, Anna M. Behrmann, DOB circa June 1878 and Christine M. Behrmann, DOB circa January 1881, all born Brooklyn, NY.
The children lost their mother in their early to mid teens, and their father by the time they were in their early 20's.The census below shows the siblings all living together as young adults.
*Note:Contrary to how I spell my surname today our "NN" was never officially dropped or legally changed. It was casually dropped and fairly recently with my own fathers birth. [DOB March 6,1932 and as reflected on birth certificates]
John circa 1850 Germany/NY, son Henry F circa 1875 NY/NJ, son Chief Bradford C Sr. circa 1906 NJ, son Bradford C. Jr. circa 1932 NJ, son Bradford C. III circa 1953 NJ, son Christian C. NJ, circa 1972. [1st born son line]
Of interest to us is the following marriage record.
[On 28 March 1873, in Manhattan, New York County, New York, "John Behrmann", born Altenan, Holstein, Schleswig-Holstein, Preussen, son of "Job Christian Ludwig Behrmann" and "Louise H. Dietries", married "Anna Mathilde Magdalene von Holdt", born Newbeat, Holstein, Schleswig-Holstein, Preussen, daughter of "Jacob von Holdt."Could they be Henry's parents?"When considering the dates, the use of proper and middle names genealogically speaking I feel strongly that it could them.]
Of possible interest to us is the following Cemetery record.
[There is a Carrie Behrmann buried March 10, 1924, in Lot 1938, Section 58, of The Green-Wood Cemetery, Brooklyn, New York.Others buried in the same plot are Gesina M. Behrmann buried February 21, 1906; Henry Behrmann buried January 1, 1917; and Henry Behrmann buried July 4, 1895.]
