Belanger or Tardif?
Edouard Bélanger, married to Olympe Portuguais on the 28th of January, 1845. This Edouard Bélanger was buried under the name of Edouard Tardif on the 29th of March, 1859.
Their marriage certificate reads as follows: "On the twenty-eighth day of January, one thousand eight hundred and forty-five, having thrice published at the prone of our parish masses in Quebec the banns of marriage between Edouard Bélanger, cart driver, son of age on the first part, and Olympe Portuguais, daughter of age of François Portuguais and the late Victoire Peticlerc on the second part, and considering also that said parties were domiciled in Quebec, we the undersigned curate of said parish of Quebec have received their mutual consent of marriage and have given them the nuptial benediction in the presence of Joseph Plante, friend of the bridegroom, and François Portuguais, father of the bride, who, as well as the contracting parties, have declared they could not sign.
Chl.F. Baillargeon, Fr."
