Re: Henry Cecil Bell/Salena Webb Bell - Sparta, IL/St Louis. Mo 1800's
My Missouri Bells were alive about the same time as this and part of the family also moved to Kansas City. Have you ever heard of John M. Bell born about 1790 prob. Va. Moved to Ky.? Had atleast one daughter named Martha M. Bell who married D.James A. Kerr in 1827 in Chariton Co.Mo. Her husband was an editor and printer at the newspaper there. He died and she remarried his best friend, Dr.John Holmes Blue. abt 1840. Martha Bell Kerr's son Andrew L. Kerr, moved to St.Louis and then St.Joseph and Kansas City and was a printer at the St.Joseph paper when he died in 1891. His sons Clarence and Cliff were also printers there. There is also some relation to a Casper Bell who may have been John M. Bells brother or cousin. John M.Bell fought in the war of 1812 and a book on the history of N.E. Missouri said he was a Col., but we have not found any other record of that. The 1860 census for Chariton Co. shows that Martha M. Bell Kerr Blue was insane at that time. She had two children with Mr. Kerr and five with Dr.Blue. Please let me know if any of this connects with your Bells.
