Hi Diane
My name is Chris Chalk. I reside in Ocean Grove, Victoria, Australia & I am currently doing some research on the Belleville's. My Mother, Patricia Lorraine Chalk (nee Belleville) (Lorraine named after a town on the French/Swiss border)was one of 13 children. Her mother, Rosino Belleville was born in a small country town in 1883, she married a Gus Cartwright. My mother's Grandfather, Lucien Charles Belleville migrated from Neuchatel, Switzerland on the 2nd September 1863 aboard the steamship "King of the Seas"to Australia. From my research to date, Lucien was encouraged to migrate to Australia by the former Governor of the colony of Australia at that time, a Mr.La Trobe, which is a respected & famous name in Melbourne, with a Suburb & several Government Buildings named in his honour. I have pieced together several Belleville clans here in Australia & I am currently discovering there is the possibility of Royalty within the Belleville's. They have their own coat of Arms which can be viewed at the following web site http://www.houseofnames.com/xq/asp.fc/qx/belleville-family-crest.htmhttp://www.houseofnames.com/xq/asp.fc/qx/belleville-family-crest.htm
If your interested I can supply you with more information on the Bellevilles'. I hope this information is of some help to you!
Regards
Chris
