My wife and I are heavily involved in Belobrajdic research at this time. Her grandfather, Mato Belobraidic, came from Grubisno Polje in the eastern Bjelovar district, but his grandfather was born in Lokve in the Gorski Kotar region (Ravna Gora, Skrad, etc.) So we are coming to the opinion that all Belobrajdics are from the same original family.
Associated lines include Skuban, Jakovic, and Kalic.
I've been working on extracting the Ellis Island Belobrajdic records, and will post a summare of the results here. Most, if not all, of these immigrants seem to have come from villages in the Gorski Kotar region. They probably only represent a fraction of all immigrations, but paint a clear picture. Main destinations of most Belobrajdics were: Pittsburgh (and area), St. Louis (and area, including East St. Louis area of Illinois), Upper Penninsula of Michigan.
We sent a few contact letters to Grubisno Polje and Ravna Gora last week.
We have done some research on a UP, Mich. branch that went west to Montana (Butte, Red Lodge, Miles City). They originally came from Lokve.
We are half through the Grubisno Polje church records films, and have started ordering Lokve records.
I'll probably be creating a Belobrajdic database to organize everyone into family groups.
