Re: Benders in Allegheny Co. PA

I'm looking for the full identity of J. J. Bender from Pittsburgh or Allegheny. In 1881 he traveled to the UK to help circulate the book Food for Thinking Christians. I believe his first name is either Joseph or Joshua but this isn't certain.

He also associated with John H. Paton, a clergyman form Michigan. He may have been a book collector, but this is again not certain.
