I have most likely contacted you before but just hoping that you can be of ANY help to me w/my tri-racial line
of WEEDEN,WHILDEN,WEELDON/BROWN for which I can make no
connections.
The BENNETT surname somehow links to my line and have come
across the KICKLIGHTER surname----BUT????
My ggrandfather, WM LAWRENCE WEELDON/WEEDEN, Black, was born in 1829 SC and settled in Wilmington, NC.
He married CHARATA BROWN, mulatto, born 1833 NC, but try
as I might I cannot track these folks.
Believe that some ancestors passed for white as I find some
listed as octoroons in SC.
FIND the BENNETT surname in NC linked to WHILDEN/WILDEN
surname which are 2 spellings for my line.
Have tried in vain to find info for Colleton, SC which is
where I believe some family was.
Know this all very sketchy, but it is all I know, but hoping you may be of some help.
