I've read all of the posts that I could find about William Bennett and his 2nd wife, Jane Eager.I've been working on other lines; but this 'mystery' stirred it's head again when another researcher posted a comment on Ancestry.com that when the first Jane Eager died, William married his housekeeper, who was a native American.I've found absolutely no proof of this, but both of you gentlemen seem to be authorizes on this family. With all of your research have you found any proof that there were two 'Jane Eager'; one being a Native American? If so, what happened to the original Jane Eager....where and when did she die?Or, have you concluded that there was only ONE Jane Eager (1799-1865), she was NOT native American, and she was the mother of all these children?
I am descended from Thomas and Jane Bennett thru their son: Manley and his wife, Julia Duell
Inza Bennett married Stephen Hayes (my grand dad
Marion Hayes (mom) married Raymond Smith
Gail Smith Swota (me)
I only keep coming back to this 'mystery' because my grandfather and his siblings used to tell us kids that their father, Manley Bennett, was 1/2 Native American.
Also mentioned was the Bennett Bible which is also mentioned in many of your posts.Did Emily Bennett ever publish?I would love to purchased a copy of her book, if it has been published.
long story short. If there is an truth to this mystery, why is there NO documentation regarding findings?Thank you!!
