Martha:

George Benning and Martha (aka Mattie) Clinton were my grandparents.Harry Clinton is my uncle and only lived a few blocks from me before he died.While we know my grandmother Martha was his mother, it is believed that George is not his father.I suspect this may be true since George lived in St. Louis and Martha (aka Mattie) lived in Graniteville, MO.

There are only two of the children still living today.My mother who is in a nursing home and her sister Ruth who lives in Springfield, MO.The last of the siblings (George) died a couple of years ago.That left Betty and Ruth.

George Boening was born in Hanover, Germany and migrated to the United States.During the civil war he served with Missouri's 4th Calvary (Union).He had two sons that I can identify - Henry and George.This George is the one who married Martha Clinton.

I have a photo of George and Martha and a photo of Ellen Hughes-Clinton.I remember her and her husband Robert Clinton.They are my great grandparents.

I would love to exchange information.I do not have much on the Clinton's.I do have a photo of Ernie Clinton who died in Alaska.
