Re: Frances Benson, or ?????
Your post is old, so it may not reach you or you may have answered your question.
Frances Ann Bennison m. Wallace in Abbeville (old 96) SC.The immigrant family that she descends from came from Ulster landing at Charleston in 1767, not 1761 as Victor stated. The law offering land to new Protestant immigrants to settle the SC "frontier" was passed in 1761.The Bennison (Benisons) came on the ship "Earl of Hillsborough"John rec'd 200 acres, William 100 acres, Fanny 100 acres. Sarah Bennison age 45 and George Bennison age 14 also passengers of this ship asking that their bounty be paid for ship passage.
The Fanny receiving land is too old to be Frances Bennison Wallace, perhaps an aunt.Sarah is most likely John's wife and George a younger son.
The Abbeville family was not the only Benison family in SC prior to the Revolution. There were wealthy planter families of the same name living in Christ Church Parish in Charleston.
Maybe this will help find where your family fits.
