Re: Indians in the Benoit

Hi, I am intrigued by the mention that all Mi'kmaq Benoit's descend from a Charles Benoit born 1655 in Minas Bay, Acadia.It is all our understanding that the first Acadian Benoit who came from France was Martin Benoit in 1671.It is also my understanding that Acadians went to Minas Bay about 1690 when land was getting scarce in Port-Royal. The first Acadian Charles Benoit on record was born 1709, next ones 1713,1726,1746,1754.

I know Mi'kmaq Benoit's descend from Martin Benoit (from his descendant Francois, first Benoit in Newfoundland about 1790); but Charles? Any chance you could check this out further?
