An Apology to Acadians
As a direct descendant of Acadian ancestry, I was interested in the recent news release about the Canadian House of Commons seeking signatures for a petition requesting that Queen Elizabeth and Great Britain apologyze for their incredibly unjust treatment of Acadians during their Deportation in 1755 from their homeland of Acadia. Canada is seeking public opinion throughout the world in support of this petition which seeks no remuneration, only a public apology long overdue. I have been dedicated to making presentations around Colorado to genealogical societies about this cause. Many in this area are not familiar with the history of Acadians and are signing the petition. I admit nor was I until I had to research the first 3 gnerations of my Benoit ancestors in North America for the new Benoit I have just published. My Acadian Benoits are subject of chapters 1-3.Let me know if anyone would like more information about the petition or the book.
