Re: Rodrique Benoit , MA
Cannot say anything about the relationships for now. To be born in MA that early means they did not move there by train from Quebec. Possibilities are: the family came from Nova Scotia and with the Acadian "Derangement" and one of them settled in MA about 1770. A later possibility is this Benoit came directly from France about 1820 or so and and settled in the US. Both of these are different lines than my Benoit dit Livernois ancestors. I am aware of Benoits that settled in Illinois very early 1830 and these immigrated directly from France.
The first names used do look a lot like those used in Quebec where I live. The Quebec various families of Benoits generally moved southwards with the development of the Textile industries and the railways after 1850. There are of course exceptions. Bonne chance !
