Hi Alida,
My mother's mother (my maternal grandmother)was Erna Emma Benoit (married name Flick) (b. 1903, Berlin, Germany d. 1985, Stony Brook, NY).Erna's father was Emile Benoit (b.1870's-1880's? Neuchatel, Switzerland, d. approx. 1910, Berlin, Germany). He had married Emma Schaaf (my great-grandmother) and along with Erna, had a son, Paul Benoit (b. 1904, Berlin, Germany - d. ? Berlin).Paul married and became estranged from my grandmother - and had a daughter, Margot Benoit (born 1920's in Berlin, Germany)-- we know nothing about her.

I'd be curious to hear what you know.I've been emailing a genealogist in Switzerland about the Neuchatel Benoit's.Here's a possibly relevant part of his message:

However we find branches also in the villages of GORGIER and
ST-AUBIN-SAUGES in this county which, until you found out from which
place your own family comes from, does not help much relative to the
works mentioned above.

The details given are vague enough that some more research needs to be
performed.

Unfortunatley we have entered the summer vacation period and not much
will be going on Genealogy around here these next 6-8 weeks.

You can - alternatively, order from your nearest Mormon chapel (LDDS)
the microfilms of birth from all the places mentioned above and start
looking for the time frame 1860 to 1890..
