Re: Lee Roy Bensken b.1900, d.1991
I do believe we have the same Lee Roy Bensken. He was my great grandfather, but I thought of him more as my grandfather. Lee Roy lived most of his life in Rose Hill, Illinois but in his later years moved to Newton which is where he was living when he passed away. When I was young he was married to a Mable Leonard (Bensken). When grandma passed on from ovarian cancer grandpa remarried years after. His new wife's name was Inis, although they did not have any children. Lee Roy and Mable had four children that I know of and their names are: Leonard, Betty, Helen and Jane. Is it known why Alfred changed the name to "en" instead of "in"? I did find a Alfred Benskin with forty acres in Richland Co. back in the late 1800's but was not sure if it had anything to do with our Bensken's. Thank you so much for the information as I was at a loss once I got to Alfred. Seemed no one remembered anything. thank you also for the info on Lee Roy's brother and two sisters that I was not aware of. I only knew of Alva and Ralph who lived up in Michigan.
Pease email me direct at email@example.com if you have anymore information. I would love to hear any Bensken stories or info you might have. I found it very interesting that there was another Rodney in the family, I thought I was the only one.
