Hi Mary, Wayne Thomas is researching the Walker County, GA, families you mention in your post.I don't know if the Jeremiah on the 1870 Marshall Co, AL census is related or not.The Mary M. Benton, age 21, in Walker County, GA, 1850 census fits with the dates I have for my Mary Martha (the only one I've found in pouring over many, many census records) but...???According to my family lore, my Bentons moved to Arkansas -- My great grandfather Thomas J. Benton asked family members (ca. 1930) to take him to Arkansas to visit "his people".Thanks for the response.
