Knut Bergendahl, born in Lerum, Sweden?
Dear Kittie,
If you have more information about "Knute" Bergendahl, father of a Foster Bergendahl, please let me know. Probably your relative was a person with the name of Knut Bergendahl from Lerum, Sweden (a place about 320 kilometers east of Göteborg).
I usually live in Göteborg, Sweden. I know the Swedish ancestors quite well. Actually there are (at least) two trees with Bergendahls. My grandfather´s grandfather´s grandfather Lars Larsson took the name Bergendahl around 1660. He lived about 150 kilometers east of Gothenburg.
My grandfather had 13 sisters and brothers out of which three went to the US. There were also other Bergendahls, who went to the US.
There are actually some Bergendahls that went to Germany around 1870.
Another tree of Bergendahl originates from Göteborg (Gothenburg). The first one with that name lived in Göteborg around 1780.
I have a lot of informations about these Bergendahls in Sweden, but at this moment I work in Sydney, Australia and I will not return to Sweden until this summer.
Sincerely
Goran Bergendahl
