I am also looking for a similar name in a similar geography, but I don't think it is the same person. But there may be cousins, uncles, or the like. Is any of this familiar?

My ancestor is William Berry, born somewhere in the 1795-1805 range perhaps. The census says he was born in NC (1850), VA (1860) or NC (1870) and his two obvious sons (Green A Berry, born about 1828 and John D Berry, born about 1825) first show to be born in NC but then TN. He may have had a middle intial of "C" but I haven't been able to verify that. He lived in central Tennessee through the middle part of the 1800s, and I can definitely track him in 1850-60-70 census records and perhaps in 1840. Coffee County originally, Grundy County ultimately (as new counties formed and lines became redrawn and solidified).

He married a lady whose name is variously Micha, Meike, Mickey and who (some online trees say, without me being able to verify) was a "Micah Powell." I suspect the Micah is accurate, not convinced either way on the surname. From VA, it says consistently.

There is an older Berry named Green Berry in far NE Tenn (Hawkins Co) at the same time, old enough to be his dad and perhaps close enough to where the NC/VA/TN state join to muddy up exact state boundaries on later census questions.

Does any of this sound familiar? Anyone?
