Greetings Cousin Dan,
When I wrote "cousin", I meant VERY distant intdeed. My great, great grandfather, Hamilton Bess (b. 1803) was the older brother of your ancestor, Nash Leslie Bess (b. 1819).Hamilton Bess' descendants remained in Virginia while Nash Leslie Bess and William H. Bess, Jr. migrated into West Virginia. The Civil War might have been the reason that Nash and William, Jr. went west. The Bess family served on both sides.
I neglected to include your grandpartents (the line between your father and Benjamin Franklin Bess) in my last message. They are as follows:
Lester Bess(1906-1990) married Opal Bosher (1908 - 1991)
Anyway, my e-mail address is [email protected] if you want to write.I have met a only a few of my Bess cousins from West Virginia, but do not know too much about the recent generations. All of my Bess roots are Virginian.
I have sent off for a paternal DNA swab kit that will idententify the migration pattern of the Bess/Best family in the old country before immigrating to America in 1631.I expect the roots to be very English.
Best regards,
CM
