Henry Best 11th Regiment Australia

By genealogy.com user September 04, 2000 at 04:40:08

I am researching my ancestor Henry Best, born 1821 in England, who was a soldier in the 11th North Devonshire Regiment of Foot, and came to Australia in abt 1845 or 46 onboard the David Malcolm to Sydney, New South Wales. Then served for 2 years as a guard on the convict settlement at Norfolk Island, before resigning and then travelling to South Australia where he became a Police Officer in 1851. Subsequently died 1895 in South Australia. Have no records of his parents or birth details. Believed he was a tailor by trade and worked in Bond Street, London before joining the army. Can anyone assist with any links?
