Henry Beveridge 1799-1863 Fife County,Scotland
I have recd a little more information about this Beveridge.
He was an "Advocate" which means lawyer. He was one of the Faculty of Advocates, Edinburgh, Scotland. He is sometimes referred to as Henry Beveridge of Inzievar (near Fife, Dumfermline, Scotland). There is an Oakley Castle/Inzievar House near Oakley, County of Fife.Probably his ancestors or even his father were involved in mining and made their means of living from mining.Inzievar House is mentioned in Jules Verne's book about his travels in Scotland.
Henry Beveridge was a very good translator - especially of works by John Calvin (so I would assume Beveridge was Presbyterian?)and Daubigne. He translated for the Calvin Translation Society of Edinburgh (editions about 1847).
Hope this will help someone sort out the Henry Beveridges, of which there seem to be too many!
