thanks for your reply. My grandfathers' brother did most of the research on the family tree in the 50's /60's according to my father and hoped to link my/his family tree into the pedigrees of the 'Bewleys of Cumberland' - a copy of which I now have as a result. The oldest link is thomas Bewley married to mary - no date / not proven (Harvey wrote) . His son was joseph Bewley - born Holme Cultram 10th Feb 1782 who married Catherine Barnes on the 21st Jan 1804. He had 2 sons and 2 daughters - John Bewley Christened 17th Feb 1808 in Wigton and marries sarah Scott on the 29th December 1832 in Caldbeck. 2nd son was Robert christened 8th October 1815. Next was jane ?christened/born 4th August 1819and then Ann 24th August 1823.
That' s as much as I have of that generation.
thanks for your interest in looking up the family trees. I guess we are probably related at some point!!. There can't be that many Bewleys who originate from Caldbeck.
