Links of Biddulph family with European royalty
The founder of the Biddulph family (of Biddulph, Staffordshire) was Edward de Bidulfe. His grandfather is generally acknowledged to have been Richard the Forester (or Ricardus Forestarius in Latin). Some sources claim Richard's father to have been Baldwin (or Baudouin) V, Count of Flanders, and his sister to have been Queen Matilda, wife of William I, Duke Normandy and King of England (the Conqueror). Does anyone have irrefutable evidence of the truth of this claim? Or even strong evidence? Replies please to [email protected] or post them on this site (preferably both).
