Who are your Bieber ancestors from Alsace? I am discovering my Beaber connections and it looks like I have a George Beaber, b. 1801 PA, lived in Tuscarawas Co., OH, moved to Henry Co., IA, with his daughter Margaret (Beaber) Smith, and died around 1870. He m. a Mary (Rahn?) around 1825ish. His father was Christian Beaber, b. 1775 Westmoreland PA, m. Margaret Gimmons in 1807. He d. 1850.
Christian's father was John Jacob Bieber, b. 12 Dec 1731, Hirschland, Alsace, Germany, d. 16 Oct 1798 in West Salisbury, Lehigh, PA. He m. Christina Catherine Steinbrenner, b. 1735 in Oley, Berks, PA, d. 24 Sep 1817 in West Salisbury, Lehigh, PA.
I didn't know any of this until yesterday, and I got that info from Ancestry.com. My hope is to find my brick-wall Smiths through the Beabers.
My grandfather is George Smith, b. 1852 in Tuscarawas Co., OH, d. 1892, Henry Co., IA. His father is Henry Smith, b. 1826, Tuscarawas Co., OH, and Henry m. Margaret "Kate" Beaber (marriage license says "Beavers")in 1846. Margaret Beaber is the daughter of the above-mentioned George Beaber. On the 1870 Henry Co. IA census, George Beeber is listed in the household of Henry and Margaret Smith, and in the Henry Co. history book, George Smith is said to be the son of "Margaret Kate Beeber and Mr. Smith." Mary Beaber, George Beaber's wife, died in Iowa in 1863 and is buried in Henry Co.
Any information you can supply on these Bieber/Beabers would be welcomed.
