Re: James Billings/Upstate NY
My history has been lost, with some exceptions. These are of a few of them.Peter Billings had son James Billings 1820 -1863... poss a Grandson James Billings May 22, 1872 - July 22, 1926.I think my grandfather is the son of the last James Billings. He is Bertrand V. Billings Nov. 9, 1903, Kerrville TX Married to Mary Smith. I know for a fact we have Indian Blood, but no proof. I do know that the Billings, Zumwalt, and the Kent families traveled across the US intermarried and my family ended up in TX.Poss Kerrville where my grandfather was born. The story goes my grandfather's father had a brother and they both owned a large spred of land and the brother scamed my great, grand father out of the land.I do know there was a Elizabeth Billings on the trek across the us.There were about 22 kids from this trek and I think that is where My family split. It is known that the Billings family fought at the Alamo. From what I have heard, I think my great grand mother was full blooded indian 1/2 Cherokee and 1/2 Apache/Navaho?.I don't know if this helps, but would be interested if you have any info.I do know that most of the closest famlies are in TX.
