Ok, There is great amount that can be found on John Billington from various sites on the internet-someone mentioned before about Caleb's Mayflower Page, I have found this page to be very helpful however I don't have the URL. I, however, am also looking for information. My family knows that we are descendants of John Billington however I cannot complete the family tree and cannot therefore prove it. My father is William Roger Billington and his father was Francies Joseph Billington from there we cannot go up any further but it is known that Francis's grandfather was the chief of police in Pawtucket, RI. We also know that we are descendants of John Billington Sr.'s son Francis Billington (John JR. didn't have any children). The major evidence that we have relating us to John Billington is mostly the names (Francis is very common among our Billington ancestors) and the fact that my grandparents and great-great grandparents lived around the same area as Plymouth, MA. So I am looking to see if anyone may have information that may help me fix the missinglink between myself and John Billington and I'm also interested to know if anyone has the Billington Coat of Arms. Thanks for the Help.
--Justin BilingtonP.S. Just to clear it up-John Billington was the first white man hung in America and was done so for murder (as mentioned in the last post). However the he was not the only mishap that happened. He was also almost sentenced to have his heels tied behind his neck for slander of Miles Standish. His son ran away when little and was raised for about a year by the indians who were nearby. But supposedly much was made up about them by William Stratford who had a strong dislike for the Billington Family because they were the only family who didn't have anyone die the first winter.
