Thomas Moore and wife Jane (Billington)
Thomas Moore and wife Jane (Billington)
I am looking for the marriage of the above:
Likely between 1844 and 1852. I anticipate wife is born Billington but I am not 100%.
Thomas born abt 1827 a mechanic/machine fitter ( only evidence is Census docs 61, 71 and 81) He was born Manchester likely Salford/Newton lived in Hulme, and Salford. Died between 1891 and 1901
Wife Jane Billingtonborm Pendleton, Salford -1827 all occupations relate to Dressmaking/Millinery – appeared widowed in 1901 Census at Workhouse in Newton.
They had 3 known children: Elizabeth 1845 , Ann 1846 and Dorothy 1849 – if I could find a baptism record or birth reference, I could at least get the mother’s maiden name.
Family appear together on 1861 census at 13 Cobury/CobourgStreet , Salford, Manchester, Lancashire, England
Jane is listed in name Billington in 1851 at 14 Beswick Street Ardwick, Lancashire, England- Children not mentioned, and I so far can not trace Thomas Moores and the three children. This cenus is hard to read , so part is here http://www.flickr.com/photos/ancestrycentral/5661277930/in/set-72157626466152703/http://www.flickr.com/photos/ancestrycentral/5661277930/in/set-72157626466152703/
I don’t have a date of marriage for the two either and am largely basing this connection on the following:
Jane Moores and daughter Dorothy Moores are listed as a lodgers in 1871 with at 4 Saville Street Newton with John and Elizabeth Billington, and their son John. The year of birth of Jane Moores and occupation are the same of their daughter Jane (born 1847).
On the 1881 census at 58 William Street Hulme Manchestershows Jane Moores as born in Newton Heath – I think that is a mistake. All other Census say Manchester, other than one which indicates Pendleton.
I am looking for enough information to tie this up; either I have missed something, I am barking up the wrong tree or it’s one of those cases that the parents actually were not married.
Thanks in advance
Dan (Billington)
