Elizabeth Fuller, wife of Old Joe Billiter, MD 1600s
Hello,
Hello,
I am not a Billiter, but I am a descendent of two apparently distinct lines of Fullers.I came across the references to Elizabeth Fuller, the wife of Old Joe Billiter, through an internet search.
I assume that this is the same Elizabeth Fuller who was an illigitimate daughter of Edward Fuller (b. about 1657, Anne Arundel Co., MD, d. 1699 M.D.) and Sarah Cockey (d. 1698, Anne Arundel Co., MD.), and the granddaughter of the more famous Captain William Fuller (b. 1625, Isle of Wight Co., VA, d. S.C) and Sarah Martiau (the great-great-aunt of George Washington).
Edward Fuller was one of six vestries of Broad Neck Parish, Anne Arundel County, in 1696.But in 1678, he is listed in the Talbot County MD tax roll.More importantly, Edward is listed in the court records for Talbot Co. Maryland, 1669-1673. During the 1672 to 1673 court session, he was sued by Thomas Mawman and his daughter, Elizabeth Mawman, over Edward's illigitimate daugher, Elizabeth.Edward was ordered to take custody of and to support the child until she became an adult. An Elizabeth is also listed as a child of this Edward in his will of 1699.
Several other Fullers remained in Maryland after Captain WIlliam Fuller retired to South Carolina.I believe that Edward is related to Thomas Fuller and Robert Fuller, both of which are also listed in the Talbot Co. tax list for 1678.There were almost certainly two Edward Fullers; the other, younger Edward married Elizabeth Hilliard in Anne Arundel Co in 1725. There was also a Robert Fuller, who was born 11 Jan 1699 in St. Michael's Parish, Talbot Co., MD. -- his father was supposedly a William Fuller.
Does anyone know the relationships between all these Fullers?Which are brothers of Elizabeth Billiter?Which are sons of Edward? Are some of these grandsons of Edward, or of Captain WIlliam's other son, William Jr.?????
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

P.S.The Wells family of Virginia and Maryland is also closely associated with the Fullers, starting with Captain WIlliam. Moreover, Captain WIlliam Fuller came to Maryland from Virginia as a Puritan, but later converted and became a Quaker. This would lend support to the belief that Elizabeth was also a Quaker, andthat she is of English origins.Although I have not looked into the history of Swiss immigrants in Maryland, the vast majority of my Swiss ancesters were Mennonites who arrived in America at slightly later dates, c. 1680s to about 1710.Were the Palatinates arriving as early as the mid-17th century?I have never heard of such, but, then again, I haven't read many of the postings on this forum yet.
