Re: Billiter:1850-1880 Harrison County, Iowa
I have a Penthus Billeter, husband of Susannah Beachamp and son of Mary and Billeter buried in Bowman's Grove, Harlan, Iowa. His wife, Susannah is also buried there. His son, William Henry is my husband's great-grandfather.Levi, also a son of Penthus, married first Effie McAnelly and #2 to Sarah Critchfield.I have their marriage certificate from Boyd County, Nebraska, 23 Nov 1895. They both were then from Butte, Nebraska.Levi and Sarah are buried in Duck Creek Cemetery, Kelvington, Sask, Canada, along with their son, Carl Henry Billeter and their dau, Louella Billeter.Their son,Francis Levi," Frank" Billeter lived North of Nut Mountain and I spoke with him before he died. Levi was a neighbor to Joe Odden, my husbands father in Nut Mountain, Sask, Canada and Joe married Elsie Billeter, grandaughter of William Henry, dau of William Leroy Billeter, of my husband. Frank was accurate in all that he told me and I have proven all but one story. He said his grandfather was a sheep man and he was tied to his wagon by cattlemen and he and his sheep were run over a cliff, killing him. He knew his grandmother's name was Mary and she was buried in Bowman's Grove along with Penthus and Sussanah. Frank was a resident of Porcupine Plain, Sask, Canada. I spoke with Frank in 1985 and he died a few years later.
The children of Levi and Effie McAnelly are Earl Raymond Billeter, twins, Park and Pearl Billeter and Glenn Arnold Billeter.
