I have also been researching Richard Bilton and his second wife Hannah Bilton (nee carroll). Richard came to Australia on the barque William Metcalfe on 13th March 1844 and had his occupation listed as Farm Servant. He married Mary M Lars in 1845 and had they had five children, Charlotte, born 1846, James born 1847, Joseph born 1851,and Charles born 1856. Mary died in 1857 and Richard married Hannah Carroll the same year. At the time of their marriage Richard listed his occupation as Gold Miner. They were married at Sofala in New South Wales. Hannah was from Limerick Ireland and was married at the age of 19. She bore 8 children between 1860 and 1880. She died in 1904. I cannot find any records of Hannah travelling to Australia but I do know that her parents were John Carroll and Catherine Cotter.
If anyone can shed some light as to how Hannah came to Australia it would be helpful.
