Seeking help in finding the parents of Charles Birge.Per information received, taken from a Census, his son William Lankford Birge states his Dad was born in Indiana. We have just learned his date of death from an Obit that was just located this week. The Obit was dated June 5 1873 in the Rolla Herald Paper, Rolla Missouri. Said Birge was about 26 years old. Charles Lankford Birge, his wife Sarah Elizabeth nee Minks,Birge and son William Lankford Birge about 4 years old at that time were residing on the farm of Capt. Hobert in 1873.That Capt. Hobert's farm was about 7 miles northeast of Rolla. It is supposed that Charles Birge and another young man, William Hocutt, were poisoned by eating of what they thought were wild parsnips or sweet anise. It goes on to say that Birge had eaten so much of the "weed" that he could not be saved.Hocutt was saved. Does this sound familier.
