Alexander I was born "on the boat."His son, Alexander, Jr., William's brother, was married to Nancy Agnes Kinkead.Alexander III was married to Jane Crockett.
Notes for Alexander Black: Early family papers tell us that Alexander Black was born on a ship coming from Ireland. Unfortunately, the names of his parents are not mentioned. They probably came to Pennsylvania and migrated several years lager down the "Valley of Virginia". Alexander Black first appears in that part of Augusta County (that later became Bath) in 1746 when he purchased 250 acres on the Cowpasture River. Payment consisted of the obligation to clear five acres of land each year for three years for each fifty acres purchased. See link below.
