I'm seeking information on William Black, born about 1770, NC, who married Sarah Stevens. They resided in North Carolina, then moved to Pennsylvania, Ohio and Illinois. They had a large family of children, including sons, William, James, Samuel, and Jonathan Stevens, and two daughters, Mary and Rhoda.
There are two William Blacks on the 1800 Census in NC who could possibly fit to be this man, one is in Mecklenburg Co., NC, and the other is in Guilford Co., NC.I've checked the deeds and wills of both counties and turned up nothing helpful.
There was an Emanuel Stevens in Mecklenburg Co., NC whose wife's name was Sarah.Conceivably they could be the parents of William Black's wife.My research indicates that that Emanuel Stevens owned land in Mecklenburg Co. next to a William Black. That is a promising clue. Also, the LDS Ancestral File indicates that Emanuel Stevens had a daughter, Sarah.
Please contact me at my e-mail address below if you have any information on these people.
Best always, Douglas Richardson, Salt Lake City, Utah
