Its good to hear from you.I have not been doing any genealogy work for quite a while. Now you have me started again!I guess that is good.
I am not sure that George Black's wife Ann was a Holmes.George and Ann did have a daughter named Elizabeth and a daughter Eliz. Campbell is mentioned in Ann's will.
However there is another Elizabeth Campbell. She was the first wife of James Black (s/o George and Ann). They had a son named John.
My references for this are Sussex Deed Book K pg 34 and Book M pg 365.This is pretty conclusive.
Also look at the will of Janett Holmes. She lists John Black, son of James Black as an heir (does not specify relationship).James is listed as execr, friend. This fits since John's mother Elizabeth is dead and James is remarried.
Also is seems unusual that Robert Holmes would not mention Ann Black in his will if she was his daughter. She is still living at the time.
So when you look at all of the information it seems more likely that Robert and Jannet Holmes were the grandparents of James Black's first wife, Eliz. Campbell.
There is more. Robert & Jennet Holmes had a daughter Isabel who married a Chas Coulter. In Chas' will he mentions a daughter in law named Elizabeth Campbell.I can't quite figure this out.Perhaps he means step daughter.
Notice that Marcus Thomas, who started this string thinks Ann's name was Grubbe. His posting is quite old and I never heard back from him.
I have not had the time to look into the Lackey connection yet.
Let me know what you think about the Eliz Campbell info.
