I've noticed your postings on the Davis Forum - but, couldn't really make any connection. But, I see now that you are researching the Black's of SC also. So, now I'm pretty sure that we are researching the same general families.
I've traced my Davis' back to Monroe Co., AL with some related Davis' in Wilcox and Perry Co., AL.According to census - my John Davis was b. in 1789 in GA.He is somehow related to Adam Davis who married Eleanor Black.Eleanor Black was the daughter of Robert Black and Eleanor Russell of Abbeville Co., SC.
The Black's, Davis', Norris, Raiford, Williams, Gandy, Perry, Murhpy, and some other families traveled on a wagontrain together. The Black's were no strangers to wagontrain's having traveled in one lead by Samuel Black to what would later become Wilcox Co., AL.There were Black's from the same family in Monroe Co. and Perry Co., also.
The wagontrain going to ARK around 1836 was lead by Samuel's son, Robert Johnson Black. After Samuel's death in 1828, Robert J. Black was more restless that ever. His younger brother, Wm Russell Black, had been to Ark to visit relatives and told glowing accounts of the land, climate, and game.
I would love to hear about your family and maybe we can put somethings together!
